Tick, tock, tick, tock.
Yawn, sneeze, cough, clap.
Stomp, shuffle, turn, tap.
Glance, kick, swing, shift.
Class dismissed,
time to go home.
"You've detention, Malone."
Growl, sigh, shuffle, sit.
Stuck in detention, is it?
Tick, tock, tick, tock.
Tap, tap, stomp, stomp.
Tap, stomp, stomp tap.
Yawn, whisper, dream, chuckle.
Giggle, turn, swing, sleep.
Pretend, wait, soon.
The teacher fell asleep again. Panda watched as one of the other kids got up quietly and made his way to the door. He was the only one who could get it open quiet. He watched as one by one the others got up and started to stalk out. Should he follow?'She wakes up and you're the one in trouble. She'll make you rat.' I guess...Panda shrugged and got up, the boy who opened the door closing it behind them all.
"We're free!"
Are we really?
Panda couldn't help but feel awful for that. He'd gone and broken more rules. His parents wouldn't be happy if they found out. They'd be real disappointed in him. All he could hear as he shuffled out of the building and across the paths was the tick tock of the clock. Everything else was quiet, eerily so. As if the world had frozen around him and all that was left moving was him and the clock. And he didn't like that, not one bit. He felt sick to his stomach as he finally shuffled off school grounds and began his way down the streets to the town square. He felt like someone had tied a knot inside him and he didn't feel good at all and everything was quiet. Even he was quiet. Why are you quiet? but there was no answer and he began to feel panic inside of himself as if everything was closing in on him and he was stuck in a box as the world around him ended and...
"Hey! Kid! You okay?" Panda snapped his attention back to the world and nodded at the man yelling at him."Then get a move on! You're holding us up!"
'You know what I think? I think you need some medication, kid.' Why're you talking all of a sudden? 'Was talking the whole time. You just didn't hear me.' ...Isn't that a good thing? 'You'd think.' Panda shrugged and continued walking with his head down and his poor excuse of a backpack slung over one shoulder. His head hurt bad and he didn't have anywhere to go for the time being. He didn't have any money with him for anything. What was he to do? Just keep going to the square. He walked in a dizzy and drunken way, as if he could tip at any moment. As if anything could knock him over at any moment. It got him some stares, but he didn't care. He wasn't drunk. He just had a headache. And that clock was still going. Tick, tock, tick, tock. Was there a reason? Was he on a timer for something? Did he have to do something? Was he supposed to meet someone? Why was the clock ticking and tocking ever so loudly?
It took him a while longer; longer than usual because of his dizzied walk and hurting head... but he made it to the town square. And what did he do? He laid down on the grass, the grass kept so oddly perfect, and looked up at the sky. The sky seemed very peaceful from on the ground, where everything was so busy and loud. He did this often and he wondered how many people thought he was homeless. Probably a few. That was okay though. The world was a good home, if you knew how to use it right. Tick, tock. Why is it so loud? 'Dunno.' So he just laid there. Sometimes the curious would ask him what he was doing. Would he be able to hear them today? The ticking and tocking was just... so loud. Could he hear anyone? He'd managed to hear that man... but could he hear?
