Well, that last part was wrong. Isaac York's reason for going to school was simply to just get out of the house. Even if he hated the new schooling, Isaac trudged across the road everyday to the 'Pompous Prep' so he wouldn't lock himself in his room to throw a private pity party. At least he could ignore the accident here, despite it being the reason he was attending the prep school now. Isaac could bury his head into a book, though he hadn't been much of a reader before, or listen to mindless gossip that didn't concern him. Whatever cured him of his depression at the moment. That was the kicker though, wasn't it? He used depressive news to ignore his own problems. Isaac took interest in how others were holding up so he didn't have to confront his own crumbling life. Was that hypocritical for someone who wanted to help people? Probably. But Isaac had learned one thing recently, and that was the fact that the road to recovery was hard and bumpy. Isaac had already taken enough 'back roads' and wrong turns that he wasn't really sure if he'd ever get over the grief. His own school, his own friends, the girl that he loved... just... Gone? It's so unfair! I mean, it should've been me! She should've lived with my injuries, and I should've died! Isaac had convinced himself that the girl. Reyna, was a much better human being than him. She deserved his life, and he felt guilty for the whole ordeal. He also convinced himself that he sounded like a whiney little girl. So he bottled it up. That, lead to painful outbursts. Isaac fought those by isolating himself to the Pompous Prep's library, where the evidence was it's strongest concerning how much he changed. Before the collapsing of McKinley, Isaac never would've been in a library. Or at the Prep school, McKinley's cross town rivals. It was a friday evening, and usually Reyna would've taken him and Cassidy captive to a home football game. They both hated the game, but their mutual friend loved it. Sighing and pushing the memories away, Isaac went to one of the book displays and picked up a random book titled Teddy Bear Cannibal Massacre |
